| It started with one thousand bunnie rabbits … in one backyard! Our partner, Best Friends Animal Society saved them, but now they need you to adopt them!!!
Big bunnies, baby bunnies, rabbits in underground warrens, rabbits everywhere all for adoption- It's bunnies galore!
This is no joke. When Best Friends arrived, the situation was totally
out of control. Overwhelming. Rabbits gone wild. New ones being born
every day, mostly underground. Major medical needs. Huge spay/neuter
marathon needed.

Best Friends has now set up a major rescue effort, with help from veterinarians and volunteers. We expect this to be a four-month campaign, including:
- Emergency care for bunnies with special needs.
- Spay/neuter. Stop the breeding by launching a massive spay/neuter program.
- Special care for baby bunnies. Neo-natal rabbits need longer-time care than puppies and kittens, and it’s at least three months before they can be spay/neutered. Orphaned bunnies will need the very special care of wildlife rehabilitators and a nursery just for them.
- Watch for mothers. Many of the babies are being born underground in warrens dug by the rabbits. We can’t extract bunnies who have come up at feeding times unless we’re sure they’re not caring for babies underground.
- WE NEED YOU TO ADOPT A BUNNY RABBIT!
There are two types of adoptions:
- Bunnies who can be taken in as pets. There aren’t many of these now, (but there will be in a few months as the baby bunnies grow up and are spayed and neutered). Most of the rabbits have not grown up with people and are basically wild.
- Bunnies who prefer to live outdoors. A fascinating and adorable glimpse of bunny life in the wild. They’re available in groups of ten who are bonded together as families. Best Friends will help you put a proper “rabitat” in your backyard. You’ll feed them and care for them, but they’ll live together in a way that’s very close to nature.
Adopter's home will be checked to insure that it is a safe environment. Approved adopters can either travel to Reno, Nevada and choose their new pal, or rabbits can be transported by Best Friends Animal Society to you!
